Tree Care Questions from Vaughan Homeowners
Ten short guides on permits, prices, stumps, trimming season and trees near the lot line. Read one, then call or text when you want a price.
These guides cover the ten things Vaughan homeowners ask before booking tree work. Each one starts with the short answer, then gives the numbers: trunk widths, heights, price ranges and how long a job takes.
Permits and Property Lines
A private tree 20 cm or wider, measured 1.37 m up the trunk, needs a City of Vaughan permit under By-law 177-2025. The permit guide explains the two permit types and when an arborist report comes into it. Two more guides cover a trunk that straddles the lot line and branches that hang into your yard from next door.
Price and Time
The cost guide lists typical Canadian price ranges by tree size, from $300 for a small tree to $5,000 or more for a big one over a roof. The timing guide breaks a removal into hours: most single trees on a Woodbridge or Maple lot come down, get cut up and cleaned up in one visit.
Stumps
Grinding or full removal, and whether the stump will sprout again. Both guides give depths and the trees most likely to send up shoots.
Trees Near the House
Dead limbs over the driveway, a trunk a metre from the foundation, or a maple leaning at the garage. Two guides show you what to check on your own and when the tree needs a closer look.
How to Use These Guides
Start with the guide closest to your problem, check the numbers against your own tree, then text us a photo. We come out on the day you call and turn the ranges into one firm price.

Pick a Question
- Tree Permits in Vaughan Trees 20 cm or wider need a City permit. Here is which kind, and what it takes.
- Tree Removal Cost Typical price ranges by tree size, and the six things that move the number.
- Grinding vs. Removal Grinding goes 15 to 30 cm down. Removal lifts the root ball. Your plans decide.
- Best Time to Trim Late fall to early spring suits most trees. Oaks have a strict window.
- Is My Tree Dead? Scratch tests, bark, buds and fungi: the checks you can do yourself.
- Property Line Trees A trunk across the line belongs to both owners. Here is what that means for removal.
- Neighbour's Branches Yes, back to the property line, without killing the tree. The rules in plain terms.
- Tree Close to the House Distance alone isn't the problem. Here is what to check before you decide.
- How Long It Takes A few hours for most yard trees. Here is what makes a job longer.
- Will It Grow Back? Some stumps sprout. Grinding below the soil line stops most of them.

Quick Answers Before You Call
Can you judge my tree from a photo?
A photo by text tells us what to bring and how long the job may run. The firm price comes from a visit, and we make that visit on the day you call.
Which parts of Vaughan do you cover?
All of it. Most weeks we are in Woodbridge, Concord, Maple, Vellore Village, Kleinburg and Nashville.
What should I tell you first?
Your street, the job (removal, trim or stump), a rough height, and the width of the side gate if the tree is in the backyard. Gate width decides how we move the wood out.
