How Long Does Tree Removal Take?
Most single trees on a Vaughan lot come down, get cleaned up and leave on the truck in one visit.
Removing a single small or medium tree from a Vaughan yard usually takes two to four hours, cleanup included. A large tree, a tree beside the house or one in a backyard with a narrow gate can take most of a day. Stump grinding adds about an hour or two per stump on the same visit.
What Sets the Timing
Four things decide whether a removal takes an hour or a full day.
Size
A young tree under 6 metres can often come down in an hour. A mature maple or spruce of 15 to 20 metres takes many more cuts, and each section needs lowering, cutting up and carrying out.
Access
If the truck and chipper can park beside the tree, everything moves faster. A backyard behind a narrow side gate, common in Maple and Vellore Village, means every branch goes out by hand. That alone can double the time.
What’s Around It
A tree that can drop into an open yard in a few big pieces goes quickly. One standing over a roof, a deck or wires needs to come down in small sections on ropes. Each piece is slower, but it keeps your property safe.
Condition
Dead wood is brittle and unpredictable. A dead ash or a storm-split tree may need a slower approach than a healthy tree of the same size.
Weather and Season
Wind is the main thing that stops a removal. Climbing and lowering heavy sections in strong gusts isn’t safe, so we move a job if the forecast turns. Heavy rain softens the lawn and can slow work in a backyard, while frozen ground in winter makes it easier to cross the yard without leaving ruts.
Spring and the weeks after a big storm are the busiest times of year. If your tree isn’t a hazard, booking in late fall or winter often gets you a date sooner, and dormant trees are lighter to handle with no leaves on them.
A Typical Visit
- We arrive, walk the yard and set up, putting down protection where needed.
- A climber takes off the limbs, working from the top down, and the ground crew feeds the chipper.
- The trunk comes down in sections or in one piece if there’s room.
- We cut the wood, stack it if you want to keep it, and load the rest.
- We rake the chips, blow off the patio and sweep the driveway.
For most yards that’s one visit from start to finish. You won’t come home to a pile of brush left for another day.
Time Before the Work Starts
The removal itself is often the quick part. If the tree is 20 cm or wider, the City of Vaughan needs to issue a permit first. A dead, hazardous or ash tree’s permit is simpler, with no fee and no arborist report. A healthy tree’s permit needs an arborist report and takes longer. See what affects the cost for the permit fee side of it.
Once you call, we come out the same day to look at the tree and give you a free quote. When the permit is in hand, we book a date.
Commercial and Multi-Tree Jobs
Several trees on one lot, or a row along a commercial property in Concord, can run over more than one day. We’ll tell you on the quote how many days to expect and how we’ll keep driveways and parking open while we work.
Adding Stump Work
Grinding the stump on the same visit saves a second trip. A medium stump usually takes an hour or two depending on its width and how many surface roots run off it. Full removal of the stump and roots takes longer.

Timing Questions
Do I need to be home during the removal?
Not always. We need access to the tree and somewhere to park. If the tree is in a fenced backyard, leave the gate open or let us know how to get in.
How soon can you start after the quote?
It depends on the season and whether the tree needs a City permit. We give you the quote the same day, and we'll book the work as soon as the schedule and any permit allow.
Will you be there all day?
For most single trees, no. A small or medium tree in an open yard is often done in a few hours, including cleanup.
